Mary Poppert's Story
I have 3 beautiful daughters. The eldest two are married with children. Our eldest, Rachel, is an architectural engineer and lives with her husband and three children in Charleston, SC. Our middle child, Madeline, is a Kindergarten teacher at Little Bennet ES in Clarksburg. She lives in Urbana with her husband and four children. Our youngest, Concetta (pronounced con-CHET-ta), is an artist/archivist who works for The Library Company of Philadelphia which was founded by Ben Franklin in 1732. Concetta lives in the center of the city of Philadelphia along with her cat, Pippin.
Tom and I have been ballroom dancing for almost thirteen years. We are not professionals, but we have a lot of fun. I've started golfing again after a 10-year hiatus. We own a vacation home in Hot Springs, Bath County, VA where there are 2 great courses nearby. I also learned how to shoot skeet in Hot Springs. (I'm good)!

of years, then stayed home with the kids. When the girls were all in school, I enrolled in Interior Design classes and was 2 courses short of graduating when we moved to Montgomery County in 1994. I did put my drafting skills to use when I designed our previous home in Ashton. I've volunteered as a tutor, teacher and director of various ESOL programs in the area and have met some fascinating people. I edited a book for a friend from Ghana, the late J. William Addai, called REFORMING LEADERSHIP IN AFRICA (available on Amazon.com). I enjoy reading and hanging out with my grandchildren.
Tom and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary on 8/26/2012. The posted photo is from the party. From left to right, Rachel, me, Concetta, Tom and Madeline.
We have recently moved to Williamsburg, VA in the Ford's Colony community. My parents are now at a senior living facility in the area. We love living here and have great neighbors.
